Internet addiction disorder is a theorized disorder originally made as a satirical hoax by Ivan Goldberg, M.D., in 1995. Despite some opposition, researcher Kimberly Young, Psy. D. is lobbying for the inclusion of Internet addiction disorder into the DSM-V, the next edition of the DSM. Internet addiction disorder is often used to descibe video game addiction.
According to Maressa Hecht Orzack, director of the Computer Addiction Study Center at Harvard University's McLean Hospital, between five and ten percent of Web surfers suffer some form of Web dependency.
The Internet has unique psychological properties which induce dissociation, time distortion, and instant gratifaction, with about 6% of individuals experiencing some significant impact on their lives. However, it may not best be seen as an addiction but rather as a compulsion. It seems sex, gaming, gambling, and shopping online can produce a mood-altering effect.
Internet addicts suffer from emotional problems such as depression and anxiety-related disorders and often use the fantasy world of the Internet to psychologically escape unpleasant feelings or stressful situations. Over 60% of people seeking treatment for internet addiction disorder claim involvement with sexual activities online which they consider inappropriate, such as excessive attention to pornography or involvement in explicit sexual conversations online. More than half are also addicted to alcohol, drugs, tobacco, or sex.
Treatment
Subliminal Therapy's Anti-Anxiety therapeutic hypnosis program was specifically designed to treat anxiety and compulsion disorders like internet addiction disorder. We also recommend An End to Depression and Complete Relaxation for internet addiction.
Subliminal Therapy is a psychological process in which critical thinking faculties of the mind are bypassed and a type of selective thinking and perception is established in the patient. We recommend our subliminal hypnosis sessions be used when you are falling asleep or meditating. It is in these times when you will receive maximum benefits as the subconscious mind is open to suggestion. |

I cannot thank you enough for your CD “Self Confidence Now”. Since I started listening to it, only about 3 weeks ago, I sleep better, feel more confident, don't get so stressed out during the day and have become far less emotional. I have yet to make it all the way to the end, usually I’m sleeping by 15 minutes in. I now have five Subliminal Therapy CDs I can always count on. These CDs have had a bigger impact on my life than just about anything, including medication and therapy.

I cannot thank you enough. After 2 years of unexpected pitfalls in my life, “Anti Anxiety” has helped me release all fears from my past as well as fears of the future. I wake up each morning with a positive attitude, my body feels such calm and peace. It has also helped with my social anxiety. I am able to "let go" of what may happen in the future and just live in the present. I am attending church again and am learning more about myself everyday.

I bought a few of your CDs about a year ago and recommended you to my friends since. I find them very effective in helping me relax (like a Xanax). I listen with earphones as I ride to and from work - someone else is driving, of course. I find I no longer care about the “small things” that I cannot change. Keep up the good work.

Your CDs came to me at just the right time in my life. I find them incredibly soothing, and the music is heavenly. A have struggled with powerful anxiety, and “Anti-Anxiety” has assisted my transition to becoming a functional person (and molecular biology student). The experience is beautiful; I hope others will find it as empowering as I have.

I am amazed at the difference your CDs made in my life. Every time I listen to one the effect is very positive, very powerful and very empowering. Going right to the source of where I consider the problem came from in the first place, years of negative, derogatory input from the people who mattered most in my life. The suggestions on the CD seem to wipe out old unfounded negative feelings, thoughts and impressions I had about myself and replaced them with positive truth and the realization that I'm as intelligent and as capable as anyone else and can do whatever I set my mind too. The interesting and mystifying thing is that it is so subtle. After listening to the CD a few times I noticed I just felt different one day and I didn't really do anything to make it happen. I used to have to put on pretense every day. Act like I felt good about myself when I didn't. Now I don't act anymore. I do feel good about myself and it is genuine. I need to know how this exactly works because it seems I went to bed one night as one person and woke up the next as someone else.
